Red Solis

The brief given challenged us to develop a rug design through our inspirations and tell a story through pattern, texture, and colour. The brief encouraged the exploration of personal interpretation, cultural connection, and emotional resonance through textile design.

 

My rug, Red Solis, was inspired by the strength and resilience of Australia’s natural landscape, particularly native flora and dry terrain. The palette of earthy reds and muted neutrals was paired with a texture-rich surface to reflect organic growth and weathering. The piece aimed to evoke grounded warmth and strength, honouring the quiet power of the land. It was recognised by Jenny Jones Rugs, receiving a commendation and ranking in the top three designs submitted.
